A one day course for small groups designed to help you understand and overcome persistent and recurrent back pain

You will learn:

  • How and why you developed back pain that didn’t go away

  • How to understand, control and overcome pain

  • Which exercises you should do to ease back pain

  • How to prevent future problems

The day is led by Hedd Piper BSc DC MRCC a practitioner with 16 years experience in helping people with persistent and disabling low back pain.  The course incorporates the latest pain neuroscience research and movement based therapy in a blend of seminars, interactive workshops and exercise sessions.  You will leave the course with the tools needed to overcome your back pain in a way that does not require drugs, pills, surgery or any form of physical/manual therapy.

Registration 8.30 - 8.50

9.00 - 10.00  Seminar 1

  • Welcome, introduction and outline of the day
  • An introduction to why things hurt and how understanding pain helps reduce pain
  • Why so many treatments for back pain fail

 10.00 - 11.00 Seminar 2

  • How to reconcile what you've been told about your back and what is probably really going on
  • What we know works for back pain
  • Why you can be sore, but safe

11.00 - 11.15 Break

Coffee, tea and refreshments provided

11.15 - 12.30 Seminar 3

  • The secrets of people who are free from pain (but not necessarily pain free!)
  • What you can change to nudge yourself towards overcoming pain
  • Q&A

12.30 - 1.30 Lunch Break

Lunch is not provided, but there are many places to eat within a few minutes walk of the clinic.  Tesco and M&S are less that 1 minute from the clinic!

1.30 - 2.00 Workshop 1

How to fully relax into your back and into your body.

2.00 - 3.00 Workshop 2

Find comfort and ease in everything you do: how to move into pain free positions throughout the day regardless of what you are doing.

3.00 - 3.15 Break

3.15 - 4.15 Workshop 3

The exercises that will integrate relaxation and movement and reduce pain whilst conditioning your back.

4.15 - 5.00 Conclusion

  • Reflections on the day including any snags or problems we've encountered
